Celtic Cross of Scriptures is based on the Ctross found in Clonmacnoise. Clonmacnoise was founded by St Ciaran in 548AD and lasted a thousand years. Today there is just the ruins of the abbey but at its height Clonmacnoise was a centre of classical and religious learning. The Cross of Scriptures was erected around 800AD. This magnificent high cross carries a wealth of illustrative and ornamental carving on both faces and sides, as well as two inscriptions in Irish.
